Home furnishings retailer IKEA has inaugurated a new solar energy system at its Sunrise, Fla., store. According to the company, the 1.057 MW array, coupled with already-completed projects in Orlando and Tampa, will make IKEA Florida's largest non-utility solar owner.
The 101,774 square-foot PV array, owned by IKEA, was built with 4,368 panels and is expected to produce approximately 1,554,600 kWh of electricity annually. REC Solar Inc. provided design and installation services.
The project represents IKEA's 35th solar installation in the U.S.
